About Us
About Pebble Creek
fourth generation builders
Pebble Creek Construction was started in 2000 by Scott and Melanie Nagel as a subcontracting company. But the art of building goes even further back in our family, with Nagel literally meaning ‘nail’ in German. We hold a credited general contractor's license and are very thorough in keeping up on industry changes, design styles, and building codes.
What to Expect
We have a team that is very experienced in the building process, and it starts with design phase. We initially meet with a client to discuss what their vision is. We truly believe this is the key to connecting with any customer. If we can work together to make a building come together, the process becomes very enjoyable. Many people have bad experiences with general contractors, so we really focus on making that initial meeting a key element.
From there, we start working with an architect on building design. Sometimes a client has already been in contact with an architectural team, so we will work with whoever that is. If not, we have several good architects that we have come to trust. Based on the project, we will contact an architect to start working on a blueprint for your vision. After working with the client on their deadline expectations, we draft a schedule. While the architect is working on a plan we start reaching out to our team to let them know there’s a job coming down the line.
From there we start accepting bids. This process is never seen by the client. It can be a very stressful process to receive bids and choose the right subcontractors for a job. This is where we shine. We have built a huge network of subcontractors. It has taken years to find all the right men and women for the job.
Here’s an example:
Jon and Jody Smith have decided they want to do a bathroom remodel. They find a company called “Bob’s Bed and Bath Remodel.” Bob says he can do the job and comes in at a very reasonable price. He asks for 50% down and starts tearing
into the basement. After a week, Jon and Jody haven’t seen their contractor in a few days. They call and he doesn’t answer. Text, no reply. This goes on for several weeks. Meanwhile, the basement is trashed and they don’t know what to do. They decide to contact the city inspector to see what the options are. He states there are no records of any permits being pulled and no proof of the contractor even being there. Jon and Jody decide to take Bob to court over the matter. After a long appeal, the defendant’s lawyer only ever makes one comment. “Do you have any proof my client was there?” Jon and Jody are left with a destroyed basement, tens of thousand of dollars paid out, and no options.
Sadly, this is exactly what happens all too often with contractors, and we have experienced it ourselves. Years in the
industry has granted us connections with good plumbers, electricians, painters, etc, who take pride in what
they do and practice good communication.
Once the bidding is done, permitting is finished, and the architect has finished his submittals, the first shovel hits the ground. We have a team of project managers that meet with subcontractors and deal with on-site issues and problem solving as the project progresses. Excavation teams, concrete and masonry workers, along with plumbers all need to be well informed on updates, layouts and print changes as homeowners make subtle changes along the way. Again, we take the stress off of the owners by keeping everyone informed and on track to meet the set schedule. This process continues till soon the shell of the building is erected, and windows, doors and the roofing are complete.
Then, in come the mechanicals and we meet with county/state inspectors and make sure our team has done their part to make sure the building is up to local and state codes. After we get the go ahead from the inspector we get sheetrock, siding, paint, trim, floors and any other finishes the customer has picked.
